Living in Manchester I am pretty lucky to have all the shops and amazing restaurants literally on my door stop, but every now and then I like to mix it up by travelling a little further. Liverpool is definitely one of my favourite UK cities sitting right below Manchester on my list, there's just something I really love about the place and it's somewhere we regularly head to for a few nights away but it's easily reachable in a day with it only being an hour in the car or 45 mins by train from our house. There's literally so many things to do from the theatre, a trip to albert docks, visiting the museums or heading to Liverpool ONE for a spot of shopping and all the eats! Genuinely Liverpool ONE seems to contain all of my favourite places to eat so it gets a real thumbs up from me.
If you're heading there for breakfast I can't recommend Bills more for a good way to start the way - I'd seriously recommend their buttermilk pancakes with strawberry, blueberries and banana, plus the decor is super dreamy with a real eclectic country shop meets industrial vibe - perfect for instagram! If you need a lunch time pick me up I'd head to the ever popular Wagamamas for their famous Wagamama Ramen with grilled chicken, barbecue pork, prawns, chikuwa, mussels and a tea stained egg, or if you're feeling like you need a bit of comfort food their chicken katsu is always incredible. Oh and if you're pretty hungry order some of their pulled pork bao buns which are my absolute favourite, just look how fluffy they are in the third photo up there! Not feeling Japanese food? Head to Wahaca instead for the tastiest Mexican street food small plates, it's like tapas but soooo much tastier, and to top it off they do the best churros with melted chocolate for dipping!
If you're looking for somewhere for dinner then for me it would be a toss up between Byron or Reds True BBQ. Byron is amazing if you fancy a good burger and craft beer, for me I'd say it's quite no frills (compared to Almost Famous / Solita / Reds) but everything is amazingly well done! I'd recommend ordering their bacon double cheese with a side of sweet potato fries and Brewdog Dead Pony Club. Alternatively head to Reds for a real pig out session.. you won't be leaving hungry! For a bit of something different I'd suggest either the Sleepy James (when it's on the menu!) or the huge Double Donut Burger - two patties, cheese, smoked peppered bacon and crispy onions served between two sweet glazed donuts! For a drink I'd recommend their super sour iced tea to combat all the sweetness.
Have you been to Liverpool ONE before? Where's your favourite place to head for a bite to eat?
