November's Gin Explorer + Bonus Christmas Cocktail

You might remember the Gin Explorer subscription service from when I featured them a few months back here, if not then I'm about to be telling you all about the best subscription box known to man! The Gin Explorer is a monthly subscription box that you can get from £24.99 a box either on a monthly rolling option, a 3 month prepaid package or 12 month prepaid bundle which makes it a great last minute Christmas present for pretty much all budgets. So what's included? Each month you'll find 4 of the finest 50ml specially selected gins from all over the world along with tasting notes and a little bit of information behind the brands, perfectly matched premium tonics or mixers and a little surprise thrown in for good measure.

In Novembers box I found Leeds Gin, Herno Gin, Nelsons Rhubarb & Custard Gin and Thompsons Bordelaise Gin accompanied with two bottles of Qcumber mixer and a big pot of toasted giant corn. Now as much as I love gin, I'm really not a fan at all of tonics so the Qcumber mixer was a lovely surprise, plus it's incredibly refreshing with gin so hats off for whoever thought of including it in this months box! I'd say the most noteworthy of all the gins included in this months box would have to be the Nelsons Rhubarb & Custard Gin, both for it's super cute flavour combination and also because it's a lovely pink hue making it a lovely gift for some of the ladies in your life this Christmas - the full size bottle looks adorable too!

So to get in the Christmas spirit (no pun intended!) I've whipped together a sparkly cocktail that we'll be enjoying on Christmas Day:

To make 2 glasses you'll need: 30ml of Leeds Gin, 20ml of Elderflower Liquor, Bundaberg Ginger Beer to top up, chipped ice, fresh mint, red currants to serve, a muddler and mixing cup.

Get Mixing: In a small cup muddle together 2 sprigs of fresh mint and chipped ice, before pouring in the gin and elderflower liquor. Holding back the ice split the mixture between two champagne saucers or shallow cocktail glasses. Top with ginger beer and garnish with mint & red currants - enjoy!
