Making Up For Bad Makeup

I don't really tend to set myself New Year resolutions, but there's a couple of things that I'd like to do better this year, one being getting into better shape and generally healthier, and the second is caring more about what I put on my face and hair. Liam bought me the Lauren Conrad Beauty book for my birthday, it'd literally been sat on my Amazon wishlist for a lifetime, so it's nice to finally have it to flick through. I've been reading it a lot recently, and it's opened my eyes more to what I've been letting sink into my skin - there's so many nasties in my current Maybelline foundation, so I thought I'd put together a bit of a shopping list for better makeup that I'd prefer to put on my skin from more top end brands like Bobbi Brown & Chanel. I'm not saying I'm going to go and throw all my current makeup away and splash out on all this right now, but gradually as things run out I'll be upgrading my stash significantly!
1. Chanel Perfection Lumiére Fluid Foundation - I know a lot of people absolutely rave about Chanel foundations, and after reading that this particular one lasts for 15 hours and works for all skin types I think this is the one for me!

2. Bobbi Brown Bright Finish Powder Bronze Gold - I don't tend to wear bronzers all that much, I'm much more of a blusher kind of girl, I'm paticularly in love with Benefits blush boxes (I've reviewed sugarbomb before here, and I'll be reviewing another this week!). However, that said, I'm sure I'd be able to make room in my everyday makeup routine for this lovely piece, I just love the beautiful golden shimmery tones. Heaven.

3. Benefit They're Real Mascara - I've tried Benefit Bad Gal mascara before, it's the one I usually wear in blog posts and I have to say it's the best I've ever used, but I've heard that this one is even better, so there's no excuse for it to not be on my wish list.

4. Urban Decay Naked 3 Eye Palette - We all want this one right? Do I need to say more?

5. Mac Russian Red Lipstick - In my opinion, Mac have the best formulas and staying power compared to all other brands of lipstick, and I just love the colour of Russian Red.

Do you wear a lot of high-end make up or do you prefer cheap and cheerful?

  5. Over the years I have started to buy more and more high end make-up products, but I do still get lured in my drugstore products each time I walk into boots. I love Benefit They're Real Mascara and I'm trying so hard not to buy the naked 3 palette, but I'm sure I will cave in soon. x

  6. I've got so much cheap makeup that I barely use, opting for my more expensive, higher end makeup day in day out. I'm trying to do a lot more research on budget brands and their new releases before rushing out and buying, basically, a load of crap. I won't give up on the drugstore altogether though as I do love it when you find a rare gem!

  7. MAC Russian Red is hands down the best lipstick I've ever bought. On the other hand, I don't really like They're real mascara all that much. I completely agree with the better-quality-makeup-buying resolution!
