I have to admit that I've been a ghd girl pretty much since I've started straightening my hair all those years ago, but it's an expensive habit to fuel, if they break like my wide plates did a few years ago *cry cry* then you have to fork out quite a lot to replace them. With that in mind I saw the opportunity arise to try out something else, Ko:kou, and I thought it would be great if I could find something else just as good for a fraction of the price. Ko:kou have a big range of straighteners and hair driers, for all different hair types and needs, wide plates, skinny plates, mini straighteners and even ones that dry your hair whilst straightening and smoothing! They're priced between £10 and £37, so much better price wise.
The plates I was sent to review and the Ionic Vegas, a normal slim plate with ionic technology for silky smoothing, which heat up to 210º. They take around 50 seconds to heat up properly, which is a bit longer than I'm used to, but nothing worth complaining about. I did find that I got the same results as my usual straighteners, but it did take me a little longer as I found I had to go over some areas a few times to get them properly straight. I'd probably give them a 7 out of 10. With that in mind I probably would buy Ko:kou in the future, after all whats a few extra minutes for something that's £100 cheaper?
Each pair comes in a really cute colourful box, and there's some really nice detailing on the straighteners themselves. Are you a ghd girl or do you prefer to go for a more affordable straightener? Have you heard of Ko:kou before?
