Flavrbox July

10:50

You probably know by now, I'm a big foodie, and I'm also a lover of subscription boxes, so when I discovered Flavrbox, a combination of them both, I just had to try it! Flavrbox is a monthly subscription box which is made up of new products from the finest producers in the UK. I really enjoy going to food fairs, and trying all the lovely new and different food on offer, but this way I can do it straight from the comfort of my own home, every month!

In my box I received 2 boxes of Speltotto, sicilian lemon biscuits, 2 varieties of salami, aubergine and mushroom paté, red pepper & almond pesto, organic raspberry truffles, and a Caribbean rub. (I did actually get an extra item in my box though!)

The Speltato is an extremely yummy dish made of spelt, which is just like a risotto. One box makes two very generous dinner portions, or you can use it as a side for four people. I've actually never tried risotto myself because I've just never liked the look of it (yet I've eaten octopus, which is far worse looking, haha), but I thought I'd give this a go, and it was so good, and I'm definitely looking forward to trying the other box now!

I haven't actually tried the salami yet, but I'm really looking forward to this. I'm a huge lover of cured sausage meats, and this is something we always pick up at food festivals. The pack is split in two, one side is 'rustic' and the other is 'walnut', how yummy do they sound?!

The pesto is very delicious, and such a lovely combination, and tastes great stirred into pasta for a quick and easy lunch. We buy pesto a lot, but usually we don't buy different variations, so this is definitely a welcomed item to our fridge!

If you love rich chocolate, then you'll love the Boojabooja organic truffles! They are incredibly rich and smooth!

We haven't actually tried either of the Tan Rosie products yet, but they're on the list for next weeks teas, I'm especially looking forward to the Caribbean rub! I also haven't tried the Sicilian biscuits either, but they look incredibly good, and you get 4 individual packs of 4 biscuits in a box, perfect for lunch boxes!

All in all, I'm very impressed with this box! Every month you receive 5 - 6 carefully selected items, along with a 'meet the makers' booklet which tells you all about the producers from your box. On occasion there could be extra freebies too! If that's not enough, the box is beautifully packaged and branded, and as a Graphic Design student I'm very impressed with it all! The box costs £20 a month including delivery, or you can go for the full year package and save yourself 20%! I also think the box would make a lovely gift!

What do you think of this box? Is it something you'd subscribe too?
Ps. Carina found a 50% discount code for your first box which is "HALFPRICE2012" on the Flavrbox twitter account - they also do competitions too!
